The most awaited movie of the
season, S/O Satyamurthy is out in theaters. This film has created sensation as
one of the biggest films in terms of prerelease business. Hype and Expectations
are too high as Trivikram and Allu Arjun's previous films were super hits at
the box office. Did the Julayi duo deliver yet another entertaining film?
What is it about?
Viraj Anand (Allu Arjun) takes the responsibility of his family after his father Satyamurthy (Prakash Raj) dies in an accident. Anand gives importance to the values followed by his father and as a result he loses all his property to clear the debts. He goes as a wedding planner for the marriage of his ex-fiance (Adah Sharma) and meets Sameera (Samantha) in that marriage. Sameera's father (Rajendra Prasad) puts a condition to Viraj Anand to get the documents of his land that is under litigation from a deadly goon called Devaraj (Upendra). How Viraj does that within one month forms the rest of the story.
Perfomances:
Allu Arjun:
Allu Arjun has evolved into a very good actor and this is one of his best performances. He is extremely good in emotional scenes and excelled in the comedy scenes. He is known for doing hyper active roles, but his character in this film is subdued and emotional. He pulled off all the emotions like a seasoned actor. This will be remembered as one of his finest performances for sure.
Upendra:
Upendra enters the scene only in the second half. His screen presence and raw emotions stand out as one of the major highlights of the movie. It is a welcome change to see someone as special as Upendra in this role. Credits to the director for choosing him for it.
Samantha:
Samantha is alright as the female lead. However she is not as charismatic as she used to be. Looks like she is getting monotonous by doing similar characters in all her films.
Others:
Rajendra Prasad is at his usual best in a role that is entertaining and cunning at the same time. Nitya Menen is okay as Upendra's sister. Adah Sharma has a limited role. Rao Ramesh is fine. Brahmanandam makes a grand entry but doesn't live up to expectations. Sneha is good as Upendra's wife. Prakash Raj is neat in the brief yet key role. There are many actors in this film and everyone did their best within their limitations.

Trivikram has come up with some of the best lines in this film. He excelled as a director in getting the emotions right. But he faltered in making this an interesting watch. There are shades of brilliance in few scenes. That isn't enough to rank this among his best works.
Others:
Devi Sri Prasad's music is good. There are some catchy songs that will instantly connect with the audience. Even the BGM is also good at times. Editing could have been better. There are many loose ends in the film. Cinematography is decent. Prasad Murella's work is laudable. The film is made on a high budget. Production values are too good.

Analysis:
S/O Satyamurthy has its moments here and there but falls short of expectations on a whole. Flat narration and clumsy screenplay doesn't let the film to grow upon you. Despite having a good script on hands, Trivikram fails to make it into an appealing film. Father and son relation and the son going to any end to carry forward the values followed by his father has lot of emotional depth in it.
However people expect an entertaining treat from Trivikram as well as Allu Arjun who are known for highly entertaining movies. Trivikram's strength lies in mixing up the emotions with right blend of entertainment. Unfortunately he didn't get it right in S/O Satyamurthy that leaves some sort of blankness in the viewers throughout the movie. There are so many characters and good enough conflict to make this into a commercial entertainer, but Trivikram's half-baked script leaves this film far below expectations.
First half runs on a dull note and things get better in the second half with the entry of Upendra. The film keeps on exciting and raise expectations with the entry of every new character and continues to disappoint after a point. Even the climax portions looks jaded and weak compared to the other works of Trivikram. With below average content, S/O Satyamurthy will have to rely upon external factors to sail through to a safe zone. Holiday season and no big releases until three weeks gives enough space for the movie to do decent business at the box office. End result of the movie will depend upon how the families embraces it.
